Junior cricket training
April 28, 2023 - July 21, 2023
Could your child be the next Sophie Ecclestone or Ben Stokes?
Broadbottom Cricket Club has a well established junior programme, which was the starting point for many of its existing senior players’ cricketing journey. The ethos of junior training is to provide a fun and safe environment for children to build and develop cricketing skills by engaging them in lots of fun games and activities, it is a great place for them to make friends as well as developing their love of cricket.
Junior training runs on a Friday night for children in year 1 up to the under 13s age group. All age groups have a dedicated coach as well as a coach support worker, all coaches have a minimum of a level 1 coaching qualification and all volunteers are DBS checked. Friday nights are a great evening at the cricket club with the bar open for the parents to enjoy a well earned refreshment at the end of week on the brand new sunny terrace, food is available from the army of kitchen volunteers offering hot dogs, sweets and Broadbottom’s famous ‘executive nachos’.
This year, the club will be running a brand-new cricket programme for children aged 5-8 years – ALL STARS. This England Cricket Board fully accredited programme will provide children with non-stop fun and is suitable for all skills levels. This exciting, jam-packed programme will provide children with the foundations to begin a lifelong love of physical education and cricket, by teaching them new skills and helping them to make new friends. All Stars will run for 8 weeks on a Saturday morning, 10am-11am, starting on 6 May 2023. Parents are welcome to get involved. All children who sign up for All Stars will receive a backpack, cricket bat, cricket ball and a personalised t-shirt with their name. Book your child’s place now.
There are lots of opportunities for children to practice their new cricket skills in cricket matches and tournaments – last season saw the club’s first under 9s tournament and it is planning on running another this summer.
Broadbottom Cricket Club prides itself on engaging and encouraging junior girls to not only play cricket but to continue to play cricket. It’s one of the few clubs in Cheshire to have a girls development pathway which provides junior girls with lots of opportunities to develop their skills, confidence and experience.
